Prepare to Swoon /// 1 : Patti Smith

Something we need to talk about before this blog progresses much further is how much I love Patti Smith and her babely style. It's simple and effortless, but somehow she does it in a way that's glamourous. I'm pretty sure Patti Smith invented the 'grungy chic' that tweens have sought after since. Patti had a lot to do with the foundations of the New York punk scene. She's soulful and original as an artist and it shows in her attire. Here are some photographs for you to oogle at. Prepare. To. Swoon.

I did my best to create for you Patti Smith's look, but looking back I should have added in a box of black hair dye. Let's be honest though, if you don't own a pair of ripped jeans, a blazer or some chucks - you're behind the times by about fifty years. If you need help with this look, just pretend that you're best friends with Bruce Springstein and Allen Ginsberg, you tour with Bob Dylan and you're the mother of Jack White. That should help.
